International Academic Competitions is pleased to announce the start of its 2017-2018 International History Bee and Bowl competition season across Canada! The new academic year promises to be an exciting one for Canadian students in the International History Bee and Bowl. For the first time, we’ll be offering two separate sets of questions at regional tournaments, giving students and teams two chances to compete and two chances to qualify for our 2018 Canadian Championships. We’re also looking to launch an additional tournament in the Calgary area and a new tournament in Southern Ontario. We’ll also be spending time in Canada this fall, visiting with schools to interest new teachers and students in our history quiz tournaments – if you’re interested in having us visit your school, just send an email to us at nolwenn@historybowl.com. Our season will then culminate with our 4th annual 2018 Canadian Championships which will likely be held in or near Toronto in May 2018. Details will be posted on the website as soon as we have the exact dates and location secured.

Just a month later, though, from July 14-22 in Berlin, Germany, we’ll also be organizing the 2018 International History Olympiad. Any student who qualifies for the 2018 IHBB Canadian Championships in either the Bee or on a Bowl team (or if a student did this already in 2017) is welcome to attend for an unforgettable week of competition, camaraderie, and sightseeing in one of the world’s greatest cities! Details will be posted to www.historyolympiad.com on an ongoing basis from now through spring 2018, but a draft schedule of Olympiad events is already posted here. We’ve had a great turnout from Canada at the two previous International History Olympiads, and look forward to seeing more Canadian students distinguish themselves on the world stage in 2018!

Also, we’ll be organizing the 2018 International Geography Bee World Championships from July 11-17 in Berlin as well. It’s not only possible to compete in both IGB Worlds and the Olympiad if you’ve qualified, but we’ve designed the two events that way. You can qualify for the IGB World Championships through a qualifying score on the IGB Championships Qualifying Exam, offered at each IHBB Canada regional tournament. The IGB Canadian Championships will be held on the same date and at the same location as the 2018 IHBB Canadian Championships as well.

Further details on the International Geography Bee (including last year’s qualifying exams and IGB Canadian Championships questions) can be found on the IGB website at www.internationalgeographybee.com. A draft schedule of events at the IGB World Championships has now been posted on the IGB website here as well. Registration for both IGB Worlds and the 2018 International History Olympiad will open in the fall of 2017.

For further questions on any IHBB, IGB, or Olympiad matters, please explore the respective websites, or feel free to email us at nolwenn@historybowl.com. Thanks, and best of luck to you and your team in all of your competitions in the 2017-2018 academic year!
