International Academic Competitions is pleased to announce the inaugural All Canadian Regional Online History Bee Competition! Students from around Canada will be competing online using Google Meet and the COBA-cc online buzzer platform.

Eligibility:
In order to compete in the History Bee, you must be 19 years or younger at the time of the competition. You must also be enrolled in a primary or secondary school at the time of your regional tournament (or have graduated within the past two months, and not yet have started university studies).

In order to compete in the Junior Varsity division of the History Bee, a student must be 10th grade or younger. If a student wishes to compete in the Middle School division, a student must be in 8th grade or younger. There is no younger age limit – a brilliant and well-behaved 8 year-old is welcome to compete. If players are homeschooled for the 2020-21 school year due to COVID-19, they can compete for the school they attended during the 2019-20 school year.

Likewise, there is no limit on types of schools – local, international, public, private, religious, and schools abroad following a home country curriculum are all welcome.

Schedule:
March 21, 2021 @ 9:00 (PDT)

Tournament Format:
There will be 3 preliminary round matches that all students must participate in. Each preliminary round consists of 30 tossup questions. The top students will compete in the playoff rounds. The exact number of students that qualify for playoff rounds will be determined after the registration deadline.

Game Format:
The rules for the Online History Bee will remain largely the same as our physical History Bee rules.

Costs:
30 USD per player

Awards:
Top three students in each division will receive medals. All students will receive a digital Certificate of Participation.

Canadian Championships Qualification:
The top 60% (including ties) of students in each division will qualify for the 2020-21 Canadian Championships.

Students who cancel their registration for free prior to the registration deadline. Students dropping after March 14, 2021 owe 100% of their registration fees.

Online History Bee Rules
